Abstract

ecent studies of nursing leadership suggests the importance the situational variables affecting the leadership for the performance for the nursing unit. Organization corporation group realize the common goal. The achievement it¢¥s goal depends on the fact wheather it exerts its proper leadership. Task performance in the organization management of a nursing unit consist in the interaction between its head nurse and her¢¥s staff hence head nurse¢¥s leadership has much to do with qualitative nursing and the degree of satisfaction of her¢¥s staff.
In the theory of leadership are from characteristic theory, behavior theory, which focus on her quality or characteristic, throw behavior theory which concentrate on her behavior, to situation theory which puts on emphasis on the relation of situations.
For a pattern of leadership to be effective, the degree of maturity of her¢¥s staff should be considered.
This study for developing head nurse evaluation method of maturity by analizing the validity, checking the reliability, and measuring the degree of subject¢¥s maturity.
The results are summarized as follows.
1. Intitial analysis
Internal consistency reliability was tested by cronbach Corrected item total correlation, and correlation matrix. The cronbach a level was .84 and there were 2 items below .30 in the correted item total correlation and 6 items with nagative correlations in the correlation matrix. The construct validity was tested by Factor Analysis using the principal component method and varimax rotation.
Two factor had eigen values of over 1.0.
The results of the initial analysis suggested the need for reanalysis after the deletion of 1 item.
2. Further analysis
By using the same statistical methods 16 items after the deletion of 1 item, the Cronbach a level was 0.76. There were only no items below 0.30 in the correted item total correlation but there were no negative correlations. In the construct validity test, 2 factors has an eigen value of over 1.0.
It was recommened that evaluation method of maturity can use for measuring the effect of the leadership according to degree of maturity of her¢¥s staff.
